As part of his “Transonic Road Movie” residency, the artist Alain Wergifosse will give a performance at the 11th Morada Sonica Festival. Long based in Barcelona, the Belgian artist composed “Deep Gray Organics” (CD, Geometrik-Microgama, 1999), one of the best experimental electronic albums released in Spain: eleven improvisations, mostly recorded during sessions of rehearsal, during which Wergifosse spontaneously combines, playing with chance, harmonies, distortions and unusual rhythmic sequences. Complex, dense electronic atmospheres, of great timbral richness and expressive force, sometimes dark and claustrophobic, sometimes delicate and introspective.
For the evening, the festival also offers Enrique del Castillo, a Spanish artist who combines plastic arts and classical and experimental music. In 2016 he received the first prize of the “Música Preventiva” competition and in 2020 the first international sound art prize of the PowSOLO Award project.
Alain Wergifosse
Insatiable explorer of sound, image and the media since the 1980s, Alain Wergifosse amplifies all kinds of resonant objects and specializes in the electronic processing of feedback to achieve his organic compositions and improvisations. He has traveled the world solo and with various groups and collective projects (Obmuz, Macromassa, SpecOp, Colectivo Anatomic among others).
From his base in Barcelona, he composed, during ten years, the music and sound interactions of the shows Marcel lí Antúnez (ex La Fura dels Baus) and he collaborated with many artists of the experimental musical scene ( Zbigniew Karkowski, Cluster, Jaki Liebezeit, Francisco Lopez, Nad Spiro, Eli Gras,…) and actively participated in various adventurous initiatives in Spain and internationally.
In recent years, returning to Belgium, he has developed his visual work and produced immersive and interactive installations, self-generative videos, microscopies and other materialist compositions presented in several festivals and international events (City Sonic, MEM, Kikk, Semaine du son, Simultan, Transnumeriques, Pléiades, Zone Libre…).
Morada Sonica festival
International Festival of Experimental Music, Sound and Intermedia Art of Almería was born ten years ago, the Festival is today fully established as a reference in terms of experimental art, contemporary sound and audiovisual creation in Andalusia without lose its vocation of national and international diffusion.
Following this consolidation and establishment process, the festival organization was formed in 2019 as a Cultural Association under the name EKSPERIMENT(AT), bringing together a large group of collaborators and advisors including find some of our country’s most prominent artists and cultural managers.
This eleventh edition is more international than ever, since the program is made up of artists such as the Belgian Alain Wergifosse, the Ukrainian Alla Uanovxky and the Berliner Selu Herraiz. They will be joined by national artists such as Isabel Latorre, Sarah Rasines, Josep Manuel Berenguer and Enrique Del Castillo.
