Clothing in his comics takes a privileged place within his spatial organizations. Indeed, Toppi adorns the bodies of his characters like so many universes, in order to set up different angles of his story. Through his drawings, the garment constitutes a pictorial material and a tangle of spaces. It also asserts itself in an abstract trace, itself outlining the structure of a narrative process.<\/p>\n<p>The very composition of the texture, the abstraction and the profusion of information of the garment at Toppi, construct a space-time in-between space. The garment highlights the architecture of a floating in-between space (Brandon, 2016), in which the reader weaves moving narrative variations, disturbing the status of the box.<\/p>\n<p>We can first question how the garment is adorned with multiple spatialities allowing the passage between the instances of the narrative and its structure. Then, think of the garment and its textures as an interface close to the experience of a moucharabieh. Openwork architectural flatness, the comings and goings of the viewer \/ reader translate indefinite spaces in between.
