“Triptyque Prototype” is an enigma with an exploded temporality which allows cross and associative readings. Its protagonist is in tension between the doll or the android and the woman of flesh-and-blood.<\/p>\n
The artwork (shot in Montreal in 2015 and finalised in Brussels in Spring 2020) is one of the winners of the international and multidisciplinary No Lockdown Art (NoLA) project launched by Transcultures and the European Creation Nurseries in order to support creative and unique projects initiated or finalized during the lockdown period. This work will be included in the multimedia catalog No Lockdown Art (booklet + key card) produced by Transcultures and the European Pepinieres of Creation, to be released on the alternative label Transonic in Autumn 2020 (featuring sound and video works by around twenty international artists including Scanner, David Shea, Erick D’Orion, John Sanborn, Jonas Luycks and Kika Nicolela). It will also be presented in several Belgian & international events and locations.<\/p>\n
\nThe Brussels-based artist, Thomas Israel (1975), proposes immersive, generative or interactive works in the form of video installations, sculptures, video stage design and performances. Having begun his career in contemporary theatre, his atypical and transdisciplinary approach of digital arts revolves around societal themes, the body, time and the subconscious. He has been showed in many festivals, exhibitions, galleries, art fairs and museums around the world since 2005, like MoMA (New York), Abattoirs (Toulouse), Palais des Beaux-Arts (Lille), Mus\u00e9e National des Beaux-arts (Qu\u00e9bec) and Haifa Museum of Art. He is favoring the installations in historical places (Prehistorical Cave of le Mas d\u2019Azil, Abbey of Villers). Skinstrap<\/i>, his first performances in body-mapping, is laureate of the prestigious Japan Media Art Festival 2013 and since then his performances about color, vision and cancer are touring worldwide in museums, treaters and in the medical world (Brazil, France, Costa Rica, Mexico, Scotland, Quebec, US).<\/p>\n
At the same time, he creates video design for the stage in for institutions such as Bordeaux Op\u00e9ra, Tokyo Concet Hall, Charlerois-danse and Varia Theater. In 2019 he signs the direction, stage & video design of his first opera, the world premi\u00e8re of Toshio Hosokawa’s most recent opera, in South Korea. Memento Body<\/i>, a book on his work, was published by la Lettre Vol\u00e9e in 2013. He is represented since 2010 by Galerie Charlot in Paris & Tel-Aviv. His work is part of the collection of the MoMA in New York, The Jewish Museum of Belgium and the Mus\u00e9e des Abattoirs in Toulouse.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
