The artistic residency will be inspired by art and life, will be rooted in the community and its development and will develop through observation and collaboration, in communion with a group from Alma&#8217;s local or regional community. The experience will be both sensitive and instructive, will bring together different perspectives, its approach will be unique and its results\u00a0 varied.\u00a0 We\u00a0 seek\u00a0 to\u00a0 democratise\u00a0 art\u00a0 by\u00a0 progressive\u00a0 development\u00a0 of closer\u00a0 bonds between the artist and the urban or rural communities (from Quebec, native and multi-cultural) in order to fulfill the objective of trying to integrate art into daily life, so that it may become a creative force in localities that are far away from the large metropolis. The project may be distributed\u00a0 by\u00a0 Langage\u00a0 Plus\u00a0 as\u00a0 a\u00a0 fitting\u00a0 response\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 intercultural\u00a0 challenge\u00a0 and\u00a0 a celebration uniting varied cultures.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fields of expression proposed for the residency<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Visual arts<\/li>\n<li>Trandisciplinarity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Total budget attributed tothe artist for the creation prize<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Qu\u00e9bec offers a grant of 2 000$\/month for a maximum total of 4 000$. The residency will depend on the attribution of this grant.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligible applicants<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The call is aimed primarily at emerging professional artists aged up to 35 years (the emerging artist concept is left to the discretion of the jury, which will be based primarily on the artist&#8217;s career more than on his age).<\/li>\n<li>have a professional artistic status;<\/li>\n<li>have one European citizenship <span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"en\" xml:lang=\"en\">or be a European resident<\/span>;<\/li>\n<li>Must imperatively stay in Alma for the duration of the residence (without family);<\/li>\n<li>No other professional obligations for the duration of the residency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application file must include<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an updated Curriculum Vitae<\/li>\n<li>an artistic statement<\/li>\n<li>a detailed description of the residency project (2000 words max.);<\/li>\n<li>support material (20 images of recent works)<\/li>\n<li>a list of Web links (video, sound, online projects&#8230;)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>To apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download your compressed file (.zip format &#8211; maximum 500 MB) via the UPLOAD BOX (password : residence).<\/li>\n<li>The uploaded folder will be named as: lastname_firstname-pepinieres-langage-plus-2019<\/li>\n<li>Please wait for the complete upload of your file before closing\/refreshing the page<\/li>\n<li>After the upload of your file (or for any request for information), please send a confirmation email to Jacques Urbanska (<a href=\"mailto:urbanskaj@hotmail.com\">urbanskaj@hotmail.com<\/a>) &#8211; Subject of your mail (important): &#8220;P\u00e9pini\u00e8res LangagePlus2019&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Files that are sent by mail, received after the deadline or even incomplete will be rejected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FURTHER INFORMATION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.langageplus.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Langage Plus<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sagamie.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sagamie Center<\/a> will work together to offer the artists a two months residency, once a year. Langage Plus provides the artists with housing and hosting, coordinates the project and supports the artist along their residency time (human, technical and material resources). The Center also takes in charge the contacts with a targeted group of the community and takes care of all the necessary to ensure the follow-up between the artists and the participants.<\/p>\n<p>The Sagamie Center offers the invited artist the services of a technician skilled in numeric arts to assist him in his creation process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The host organisation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Langage Plus is a space for current art where research and creation lead to a various range of exhibitions, residencies, events and educational activities. By hosting artists from here and elsewhere, Langage Plus allows a large regional audience to discover and experiment today\u2019s art, thus participating to the notoriety of the city of Saguenay\u2013Lac-Saint-Jean on the national and international scene.<\/p>\n<p>The artistic direction aims at offering a diverse range of activities linked to its orientations that are : \u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>individual and collective identity;<\/li>\n<li>territory and its appropriation;<\/li>\n<li>art and life, its anchorage in the community and its future;<\/li>\n<li>current art\u2019s purposes and development possibilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Langage Plus is place that keeps aware about the problematics linked to current art and alsoa creation space that stays opened to the world.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Accommodation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Artists are hosted in a studio (loft), outside of Langage Plus\u2019 space and attached to a privatespace. Private access and possibility to benefit from the other areas of the house (living room,kitchen, cleaning room). The studio is located close to a grocery store and 15 minutes awayby foot from Langage Plus and the city center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Material resource made availableto the artist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 artist\u00a0 will\u00a0 dispose\u00a0 over\u00a0 a\u00a0 creation\u00a0 studio,\u00a0 a\u00a0 Mac\u00a0 computer\u00a0 with\u00a0 image\u00a0 manipulationsoftware\u2019s\u00a0 (Photoshop,\u00a0 Illustrator,\u00a0 Final\u00a0 Cut\u00a0 Pro),\u00a0 an\u00a0 access\u00a0 to\u00a0 common\u00a0 spaces(documentation\u00a0 center,\u00a0 conference\u00a0 room,\u00a0 kitchen,\u00a0 etc.),\u00a0 carpentry\u00a0 equipment,\u00a0 audiovisualequipment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meansused to promote the artist&#8217;s work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Langage Plus offers the invited artist the possibility to exhibit its final work at the end of his stay in the project room of the center in the form of a solo exhibition, promoted with posters, invitation card and PR communication by press release. As the exhibition is part of the annual programming\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 Centre,\u00a0 it\u00a0 will\u00a0 also\u00a0 be\u00a0 diffused\u00a0 on\u00a0 the\u00a0 Qu\u00e9bec\u00a0 self-managed\u00a0 artists centre\u2019s website (RCAAQ).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The territory<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The city of Alma covers a superficy of 202 Km2, with 15% as urbanized territory. The city has 30 463 inhabitants. The presence of a heavy industry ensures the economy while small and middle-sized firms contribute to the current development of the city. We want to highlight the fact that the center-city of Alma plays an important role in local dynamism and this thanks to the efforts of the local community. A large part of the territory is covered by crops that also contribute to the economic development of the city. Finally, from a geographic point of view, Alma shares a border with the Saint-Jean Lake and crossed by two rivers, the Petite D\u00e9charge and the Grande D\u00e9charge \u2013 big and small relief, that form the Saguenay river at their junction. Generally, the territory of Alma is marked by many geographic accidents like accidented reliefs, deep ravines, rock outcrops. However, although these strains can be considered as obstacles on physical or economical point of view, they contribute to give a very\u00a0 particular\u00a0 urban\u00a0 landscape,\u00a0 by\u00a0 its\u00a0 proximity\u00a0 to\u00a0 beautiful\u00a0 natural\u00a0 sites\u00a0 that\u00a0 ignore monotony. At a cultural level, the region of Saguenay-LacSt-Jean offers a wide range of activities\u00a0 and\u00a0 events\u00a0 in\u00a0 current\u00a0 art\u00a0 and\u00a0 constitutes\u00a0 a\u00a0 privileged\u00a0 place\u00a0 for\u00a0 artistic experimentation.
